Gerónimo Cabrera Serrano and Rita Maria Otero is a couple, who own “Mocho de Jagüey” in a CCS located in Bahía Honda municipality, Artemisa province. This place was offered by the owners as the stage for the graduate field visit of the SIAL (Local Agricultural Innovation System); since their sequence continues.
National Coordinator, Rodobaldo, and his counterpart in Artemisa province, Irene Moreno, were present; as well as the coordinator from Bahía Honda municipality, Henry Suarez; and also members of the diploma from the participating municipalities. Achieving a group exchange -where the results obtained from more than 10 years of work experience on the land were exposed- we found this agro-ecological paradise, that has a mini-industry, where mango, tomato and “Santo Domingo” sapodilla pulps are processed; as well as the production of vinegar. In addition, the sowing of citrus offspring; such as sweet orange, lemon and grapefruit are rescued. The avocado grafting from the seed itself is developed; as well as the growing of medicinal plants, that help the community residents in the application of home remedies.
To preserve this paradise, Gerónimo transmits his experiences to his granddaughter, Yeila Mendoza Cabrera; who encourages the formation of circles of interest that respond to the conservation of a sustainable Agro ecological development.
