The Cuban beach volleyball duo made up of Yanileydis Sánchez and Artemiseña Lidianny Echevarría, achieved an excellent performance during the three consecutive stops of the World Tour held in Cancun, Mexico.

Eleven victories and six defeats accumulated the second Cuban couple during these struggles, when they faced rivals of proven quality and experience at the highest competitive level.

In the first of the three stops they managed to advance in the main draw and reach ninth place. In the second they did not go so well: they finished in 17th, despite having a very good start.

But in the third and last they reached the quarterfinals, and shared the seats from fifth to eighth, their best performance as a duo to date, as they fell to the award-winning Australian couple Clancy-Artacho del Sol.

On the balance sheet, the performances of Lidiannys and Yanileydis surpassed those of the main Cuban pair, the one made up of Leila Martínez and Maylén Delis, with much greater competitive experience, even at that level.

For Lidy and Sánchez, as they are known in the competitive arena, the main objective consists of obtaining blanks for the Pan American pre-Olympic tournament, when both couples will seek a place in Tokyo for Cuba; if they do, it will be for Leila and Maylén, for having participated in the minimum required tournaments.

The second couple, despite exhibiting better results and winning the top of the confrontation between the two (we were able to enjoy it on Tele Rebelde), will not have options to attend the appointment with Olimpo, due to those intricate twists and turns of modern sport; however, in the future they deserve the opportunity to earn glory in the competition arena, regardless of names or past careers.
