Los artemiseños enfrentando los retos del cambio climático

El territorio artemiseño es altamente vulnerable a los efectos del cambio climático, con riesgos eminentes en los asentamientos costeros, la vulnerabilidad del acuífero a la intrusión salina y la pérdida de agroproductividad de los suelos. Constituyendo 7 áreas priorizadas del Plan de Estado para el Enfrentamiento al Cambio Climático en Cuba, según reflejan los resultados del Macroproyecto y los estudios de Peligro Vulnerabilidad y Riesgo (PVR) de la provincia.

Gerónimo Cabrera Serrano and Rita Maria Otero is a couple, who own “Mocho de Jagüey” in a CCS located in Bahía Honda municipality, Artemisa province. This place was offered by the owners as the stage for the graduate field visit of the SIAL (Local Agricultural Innovation System); since their sequence continues.

Western Region Workshop

The Western Region Workshop on the formulation of projects for the Green Climate Fund (FVC), in Artemisa, was held on 16-17 May.

The workshop was aimed at building capacities in the territory for the formulation, evaluation and approval of projects, related to the prioritized areas of the Life-Task and in response to Task 11 of the State-Plan.

Among the transcendental themes were: methodological process for the design of a project to the FVC, investment criteria, economic-financial studies, application of environmental and social safeguards; as well as the requirements for projects to the FVC.

The workshop presidency was in charge of representatives from CUBAENERGIA, PNUD, FLACSO, CITMA Ministry, and ICIMAR; specialists from the University, municipal section of CITMA Bahía Honda, Provincial Directorate of CITMA Artemisa, Provincial Directorate of Agriculture (Dept. of Agricultural Engineering), and ACTAF.
