The Dominican Republic and Nicaragua were announced as Cuba's rivals for the preamble to the Pre-Olympic Baseball Tournament of the Americas, to be played from May 31 in Florida, United States.

Ricardo Eizmendi, technical chief of the national commission, explained to JIT that the duels are scheduled for the 27th and 29th, in that order, as part of the pre-competition calendar conceived by the organizers for the venue itself.

"It is a scheme that encourages firing against teams outside the group in which we will face the event," recalled the specialist, who considered it positive to hold matches of that level at the end of the fitness.

Eizmendi highlighted the balance of the preparation hosted by the Victoria de Girón stadium in Matanzas, visited on Saturday by Inder president Osvaldo Vento Montiller, and explained that the group has placed special emphasis on the tactical situations of the game.

He maintained that all the details are analyzed to make it possible to form a balanced cast, with men in a position to respond to a challenge that is known to be demanding, but with the philosophy of mixing total dedication and joy on the ground.

Cuba will be part of group B, in which it will compete with Venezuela (May 31), Canada (June 1) and Colombia (June 2) in search of access to the super round that will also host the pair of leaders from group A , made up of the United States, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico.

The contest will grant a direct ticket to the monarch and will reward those located in places two and three with tickets to the world qualifying round called next in Chinese Taipei
